Mindfulness means slowing down and paying full attention to something to really notice what you’re doing. Being mindful is really the opposite of rushing or multi-tasking.
When you’re mindful, you’re taking your time and focusing in a relaxed, easy way.
This soothing aware state of mind is joyful but getting your kids to relax is a whole different level of achievement!
As a result there’s been a trend in recent years of books which are written specifically to have a soothing peaceful effect for children to enjoy and inadvertently enter that realm where going to sleep becomes much more likely – which must be a god-send for young parents!
This genre was pretty much kick started by The Rabbit who wants to fall asleep which as written by Carl-Johan Forssén Ehrlin to help parents get their children to sleep quicker.
Well that same approach and philosophy has been taken to a whole next level by the Tardy children’s book series which is based upon the adventures of Tardy who must be the world’s most famous water bear (in absence of any other contender…) and in his latest escapade Tardy learns about mindfulness.
Although it’s not strictly a true “mindful” meditation book, as it’s real ambition is to help parents send their children to sleep quickly and peacefully, it does do this by introducing mindfulness for children techniques which, depending on the age of the child, may be more useful to the parent if they are new to mindfulness.
Anyway,we do recommend you give this little joyful book a go, especially as Adiba the founder of Inhere was the narrator for Tardy’s previous “Bedtime with Tardy” children’s book and, rumour has it, one of the characters in Mindfulness with Tardy is based on her!
